    Notes:

N2....Isabel Sutherland was Robert Hasbane's second wife. His first, Janet Stronach, died in November 1732. Robert and Isabel had no family of their own. Robert Hasbane was last recorded in 1745.

N3....Jean Matheson was the widow of John Farquahar, Skipper, who died in February, 1741. Twin sons Alex and Charles born in 1730 seemed not to have survived. Two unnamed sons were baptised in 1731 and 1734 but may also have succumbed in infancy. Only William, John and James definitely survived and are referred to in later records.

N4....Elspet Neilson was the widow of William Neilson who died in February 1737. Son William's wife, Janet Archibald was an incomer; daughter Helen married James Jappy in 1750. Another daughter was named Janet in 1744 and so this daughter did not survive, although assumed alive in 1741.

N5....John Sharp died in 1742, possibly one of the four lost at sea. A second son James was born in 1741 and so we can assume that the first James died in infancy, although no burial was recorded. Child burials were not recorded at this time.

N6....Elspet Mackay was John Miller's second wife his first had been Margaret Forbes who died in 1730.

N8....Charles Mackay had an unnamed natural child by Isabel Mackay in 1732.

N12...Marjory Morrison died in Rottenslough in August, 1741.

    N13...See N8.

N14...Alex Wright died in 1742, possibly at sea with John Sharp above.
