    Notes:

N1....Jean Matheson was the widow of John Farqhuar, skipper.

N2....Margaret Sharp was the daughter of John Sharp who died in July 1742 and Janet Smith who had subsequently married widower Charles Mackay, (S5). Margaret had married Alex Sinclair from Buckie around 1760, the date of which probably fell within the missing records. Cosmo Sinclair does not appear to have survived and a second Jean was baptised seemingly about 1780.

N3....John Miller was Margaret Taylor's son by William Miller.

N4....Smith,Laird family. Son James was now married to Helen Flett of Findochty.

N5....Elspet Smith died during the 1770s. There were no children born to the marriage. Charles Mackay remarried in 1780. His mother Janet Smith probably died before then.

N6....Janet and James Smith,Laird may not have survived.

N7....Daughter Margaret married William Campbell of Findochty in 1772 and Janet married John Campbell in 1775. George Garden appears as a witness in 1763, 1764 and 1790. He was probably the brother of Alex Garden here.

N9....William Farquhar senior was recorded in 1773. Son John married Mary Jappy in 1772. Daughter Margaret probably married and moved to Buckie.

N12...William and Janet Campbell were Jean McBay's offspring from her first marriage to Alexander Campbell.

N14...Smith,Lairds. Alex's and Elizabeth's MI erected 1774-1794 states that only Alex William and George were left and so it seems that John may have died much earlier and therefore probably in infancy.

N15...Another unrecorded marriage. Alex Sharp a second generation migrant, was the son John Sharp and Janet Smith. Jean Wilkie was likely from Fordyce, the daughter of James Wilkie and Elizabeth Lorimer or William Wilkie and Cecilia Brown.

    N16...Smith,Lairds.

N17...Anna McCulloch was from Findochty. Daughter Jean died during her early childhood.

    N18...Smith,Bodies

N19...John Smith,Latin was the son of John Smith and Jean Garden. Margaret Reid was probably the daughter of Alex Reid and Anna Reid, fishers in Buckie.
