Information for shop owners
Even if you aren't breastfeeding-friendly to be nice or socially responsible, you can do it as a powerful, proactive, profitable business choice.
If you would like a UNICEF "breastfeeding welcome" sticker to display in your cafe, email me.
Making your cafe breastfeeding-friendly is a positive business decision. It’s worth remembering that even if breastfeeding isn’t something staff are personally enthusiastic about, having a positive attitude is beneficial to the company as a whole:
- Breastfeeding mothers need to take breaks regularly through the day to sit down and feed their babies. They like to use cafes for this purpose.
- Mothers of new babies spend a lot of time out and about, stopping in cafes often - they are a significant part of the daytime non-rush clientele.
- Mothers of new babies tend to avoid the busy periods in cafes as it would be stressful for them, so you don’t need to be concerned about your café being particularly full of babies during the various rush-hours that coffeeshops experience.
- By encouraging breastfeeding you are encouraging these women to begin the habit of visiting your establishments.
- By encouraging breastfeeding you benefit from a positive social image.
- By encouraging breastfeeding you are contributing to the health and wellbeing of the next generation.
On a purely financial level, encouraging breastfeeding mums to use your cafe means you're training a whole new generation of people to frequent your establishment.
If you would like a UNICEF "breastfeeding welcome" sticker for your shop or cafe to display, encouraging mums and nice people to choose your cafe over the others, email me.
