Saturday 4th July   Fraser Cup  U14  9 a side at Glengarry

Boleskine U14 travelled to play Glengarry U14 for the The Fraser Cup   which was to be played after the Glengarry Highland games . The initial part of the game was fairly even, but as time wore on Boleskine's greater experience came through  and we led at half time by three goals to two.   After half time, Boleskine continued to have the better of the game scoring another five goals  to no reply from Glengarry to win the cup by seven goals to two . Both team contested well in a good sporting game both teams had some fine individuals  players within their ranks, but the better teamwork of Boleskine carried the day,  though the Glengarry boys were denied  certain goals on a couple of occasions, when Neil Hope came to his side rescue with two good saves. Boleskine's goal scores were Donnie Forbes 3, Alasdair Fraser 2 ,Ewen Fraser 1 &  Robert Weatherspoon 1, whist Conner Mackinnon and Michael Rodgers countered for Glengarry .   After the match Alasdair Fraser presented the cup to Boleskine captain Ewen Fraser and medals to both competing teams and officials .

Wednesday 20 May  U14 league

Boleskine 2 Newtonmore 4

Boleskine met Newtonmore at home in their first match in the U14 league. Both teams were nine a side and each team fielded players who were still in primary school.    In a well contested game with every player giving there best Newtonmore took the lead first, then Donnie Forbes  a couple of minutes later pulled the home team level .  Newtonmore scored again to lead at half time by two goals to one and with the slight wind in their favour in the second half, scored twice early on to lead by four goals to one.  Boleskine coach Ian Hope made some positional changes which resulted in us coming more into the game with Ewen Fraser getting our second ten minutes from time . An enjoyable match to watch, which was played in good spirit  by two  teams evenly matched .

Friday 8 May U14 Development Trophy Tournament

Boleskine were hosts in the first round of the U14 Development Trophy Tournament. This years competing teams  were Boleskine, Glenurquhart, Inverness, Strathglass and Tomatin. The games were 9 a side with rolling subs and duration of fifteen minutes one way, with each team playing each other once .  The competition started at 6:30 pm unfortunately there was a fairly strong cold wind with intermitted rain showers, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment the contestants had during the evening . The results of the games were as follows     Boleskine 0 Inverness 1,  Strathglass 3 Tomatin 0, Boleskine 2 Glenurquhart 1, Strathglass 1 Inverness 0, Tomatin 0 Boleskine 1, Glenurquhart 1 Strathglass 2, Inverness 0 Tomatin 0, Glenurquhart 0 Tomatin 0, Boleskine 2 Strathglass 3 , Glenurquhart 2 Inverness 0.  The competition was played in a good sporting manner and it was apparent from overall play, which was confirmed by the score lines that there was little between all the teams .   Boleskine's first opponents were Inverness and in this evenly contested game the town site edged the win by one goal to ni . Against Glenurquhart in the second match the Glen drew first blood with a good shot from distance . A couple of minutes later Ewen Fraser showed he could do the same, to level the match and Hamish Stoddart shortly afterwards scored the winner from the edge of the D.   In the match against Tomatin we had the best of play but we found the Tomatin defence very hard to break down, however a strike by Robert Wotherspoon secured the victory . In the game against Strathglass things did not go as well as we hoped and soon found ourselves down by three goals to nil. The team did not let there heads go down and battled back with Alasdair Fraser scoring, then Ewen Fraser pitching in with his customary good strike from distance, but we just get the equaliser our spirited comeback deserved.   The Boleskine team played well improving with each game and gaining valuable experience in their first outing of the season. With each player giving their all it is hard to pick out individual performances, but mention must be made of our goal keeper Neil Hope whose calm and assured performance between the sticks, along with his directions to the defence, gained deserved praise from the visiting teams officials and spectators alike .

Thanks to Ian Hope for organising the evening and all the hard work he has done with the youngsters over winter months getting them prepared to enter competition.

Special thanks to Joey Smith who refereed all the games ably assisted by his two goal judges Ali Fraser and Lewis Smith, also to Peter Macdonald who set out the park ,unfortunately  he was unable to attend himself to enjoy the evening .
