24th October Boleskine 2 Lochcarron 3 (referee Evan Macrae)
Boleskine first game in three months, was preceded by a minutes silence in remembrance of Boleskine player Laurence Parrott who died on September 6th September . The weather was wet and blustery ,with the wind favouring no side and it was only a few hardy well wrapped up spectators who took in the match . Boleskine started on the ascendency and in five minutes Kevin Hunter latched on to a forward pass to steer the ball slowly past the keeper into the net . Boleskine created a few chances in the early stages and in fifteen minutes from a Lewis Smith pass, Kevin Hunter scored his second with a low shot . In twenty one minutes a good double save by Boleskine keeper Peter Tinney, saw him accidently kick the ball resulting in a penalty to Lochcarron . Peter pulled of a good save from the low penalty shot ,to maintain the home sides advantage . The visitors were coming more into the game as there recent match fitness began to tell and in forty minutes were awarded a second penalty, which they converted with a high shot to make it two goals to one in favour of Boleskine. Four minutes its later the sides were level , the ball was not cleared in the home defence and the Lochcarron forward nipped in to force the ball home . For the second period both teams were so eager to get on with the game, that the referee had to cut short the interval to five minutes. Spurred on by the half time talk by manager Bob Black, Boleskine again had the early upper hand and in fifty minutes were awarded a penalty , unfortunately Kevin Hunters high lobed shot was saved by the keeper. in the sixty third minute Lochcarron took the lead again from close in and that was the end of the scoring for the day . Lochcarron were the fitter of the two teams and had more of the play from then on, but the Boleskine defence kept them at bay . If anything Boleskine had by far the more clear cut chances on breaks as the second half went on, but scorned ample opportunities to square or even win the game . An entertaining match played in wet slippery conditions, that to be fair to both sides a draw would have been more justified outcome.
Footnote
Transpires that this game was a four pointer, so this completes Boleskine's fixtures for the season .

3rd October Aberdeen Uni v Boleskine
After two months without a game Boleskine unable to raise a team, points awarded to Aberdeen University
Boleskine's trip to the west coast to face title challengers Lochbroom, saw them succumb to their heaviest league defeat of the season . Unavailability of players once again saw personal changes, the defence having two outfield changes. Lochbroom opened the scoring in the third minute and added a second in the fifteenth minute, which was how the score stood at half time . Five minutes into the second half Lochbroom scored a conclusive third goal ,followed by another three minutes later. In the sixty ninth minute, we fell further behind as the result of a successful penalty hit and five minutes from time the home team made it six, to gain the two points and help their goal difference.
Inverness were today’s visitors to Smith Park and they took to the field with a strong looking side, their first team not having a match today. We ourselves were able to turn out more or less our first choice team, so we should have been confident of claiming both points. From the throw up, which was delayed by 10 minutes due to the late arrival of the referee, the town side went on the attack and applied lots of pressure on the Boleskine defence. In the 20th minute they took the lead from a long shot and a few minutes they got a second. On the half hour mark a foul was awarded to Boleskine just outside the D and quick thinking by Mike Pirie led to Darren Macleod reacting quicker than the Inverness defenders to score from close quarters. So at half-time the score was 2-1 to the visitors and they were certainly the better side in that period, most of their chances being created by former Boleskine player David Higham. In the second half we came into the game more strongly and the ball ended in the net from Darren again, but the ref chalked the goal off as he had seen the ball being kicked. With the score remaining the same with 15 minutes to go, manager Bob Black decided to add more experience to the forward line by moving Kevin Hunter from full-back to full-forward and moving Sandy Fraser back to defence. A few minutes later after we failed to clear the ball resulting in the young Inverness forwards taking advantage and extended their lead. With 5 minutes remaining Darren Macleod capped a fine personal performance by scoring his second goal, thus making the final score 2-3. With this defeat any slim outside chance we had of the title has certainly vanished, but if we could get a good result next week against Lochbroom, one of the favourites for the league it would give everyone at the club a lift. Today's reporter Ally Fraser
This Saturday's visitors to Smith park were the division leaders Aberdeen Uni, in a match we would have hoped to have an bearing on our league title aspirations, but not to be, though we can still have a say in determining the eventual winners league. The spectators numbers were boosted by some interested party's from Lochbroom, hoping we could do their cause a bit of good, along with the couple points gained from their walkover against Lochcarron. The homes side with a few changes from last Saturdays played with the easterly wind in the first half, but early on the game was very even and both defences well on top. In thirty five minutes Aberdeen took the lead when Gilbert Moir made space for himself and sent a good drive from forty yards into the net , Boleskine best effort of the half came a few minutes later when Lewis Smith's forty five yard drive was well saved by the hand of Aberdeen custodian. Boleskine's injury jinx continued as Gavin Butterworth suffered a mouth injury and was replaced at half time by James Rolfe . With the wind against them and a goal down it looked to be a long second period for Boleskine, but we started sharply and after a good interchange Lawrence Parrot brought a good save out of Aberdeen keeper . Then in the fifty second minute, the score again was equal following a good strike from thirty yards by Lewis Smith and two minutes later the same player made it two goals to one for Boleskine, after finding himself with time and space at the edge of the D. Aberdeen with the bare twelve players seemed to tire and with the younger Boleskine's players full of running, we had by far the better of the second half . For all our pressure we could not add to our total and the home defence had to be on their toes on a few occasions to ensure the victory, which overall we deserved. A much improved performance from the team and the victory sets us up for the home game against Inverness next Saturday. Today's game was marred by an over zealous match referee who's pettiness to detail and berating of volunteer goal judges and linemen was matched by his total misunderstanding of rules of play, as kicking of the ball, hacking and double swinging all went unpunished on numerous occasions. One has to question the sense and the financial aspect of sending match officials great distances to referee games, when there far more competent officials in the local vicinity.
On Saturday evening the Boleskine team travelled to meet Glengarry in the Macbain Cup, a trophy in which an invited team plays against the Glengarry team for two consecutive years, last year we lost by 4 goals to two . Once again work commitments, injuries and holidays had an effect on team selection that and along with six weeks without a match was hardly the best preparation to meet a team playing in a division higher. Boleskine welcomed back Neil Fraser for his first start of the season and had two players of the evenings successful U15 team team on the bench, whilst former Boleskine player Mathew Ross featured in the Glengarry team . The match itself was dominated by the Glengarry team, whose regular games over the last few weeks and playing in a higher division was apparent ,as they were a yard faster than their visitors. Boleskine defence had their work cut out , as the only respite they got was when there were intermittent breaks into the Garry half but the ball didn't stay there for long and it was no surprise when the home team took the lead in twenty minutes through Steven Cameron . A few minutes later Stewart Gregory made it two nil for Glengarry an d that is how the score stood at half time . In the second period Boleskine's hopes of getting back into the game were dashed in the fiftieth minute, when they gave away a penalty which Kenny Henderson converted . Glengarry continued to dominate the game scoring another four goals through Stewart Gregory, Kenny Henderson, Mathew Clark & Fraser Mackenzie whilst Boleskine had to wait until the seventy fourth minute till Kevin Hepburn brought out the the first save of the night from the Glengarry keeper . The one highlight of the night for the visiting supporters, was the scoring debut for the first team of Ewen Fraser captain of the U14 team, who took his chance well and did enough to suggest he is ready to be considered for selection to the adult team . Another debutant on the night was former Inverness keeper Ewan Weatherspoon who played in between the sticks in the latter part of the game while his son Robert was playing in the forward line . After the game Tony Macbain handed over the cup to the Glengarry captain along with medals to both teams and the match officials.
Boleskine's last hope of silverware this season lay in the Strathdearn cup, whose second round was played at Smith Park today against second division side Kilmallie. Boleskine welcomed back to the team Chris Black, Kevin Hunter and Peter Tinney, while some players who played in the last game were unavailable and Mathew Ross has returned to play for his home club Glengarry. Killmallie with a very young side able supported with a few old hands, had the wind with them in the first half which saw them having the better of the play, but the Boleskine defence were managing to keep them at bay. Disaster struck for the home team in the thirty third minute, when a Steven Macalister low shot took a bad bounce and landed in the net giving, Kilmallie the lead by one goal to nil . That was the score at half time, as the home support was increased during the half, by despondent stragglers arriving from Caley Thistle football match against Falkirk. Which saw the town team defeated by one goal to nil and relegated to the First Division after five years. The second half with the slight wind now in our favour we came more into the game, but found the Killmallie defence holding there own with their goalkeeper in fine form . However the visitor were still posing a threat and in the sixty eight minute they hit the post. This seem to spur Boleskine on to get the equaliser, three minutes later Chris Blacks fine swerving drive from forty yards looked to be heading for the top corner, only to be thwarted by the Kilmallie custodian . The same player pulled of another couple of good saves as we pressed for the equaliser, but to no avail and we finish the match with eleven men after Gavin Butterworth had to leave the park with a leg injury. There was not much between the teams, possible Kilmallie just doing enough to deserve the victory. Now Boleskine without a scheduled fixture for the next four weeks, are left with only nine league games to contest till the end of season ( there is no Glenmore cup these days ). In the remaining fixtures the possible of fielding a settled side will be difficult, due to holidays, injuries, work commitments and breaks in fixtures,. To date we have used twenty seven players in the eleven games played so far, the lack of a settled team has been reflected in results to date, but unfortunately work commitments and injuries have dictated player availability .
Footnote :- no truth in the rumour that fellow reporter Ally Fraser will be donning the cricket whites this summer, after his spectacular catch late in the game, was as good as we have seen at Lords ground this year to date .
Saturday 9 May Beauly 3 Boleskine 1 (referee John Angus Gillies)
A noon start for today’s game at
Braeview Park due to the Beauly first team having a Camanachd Cup tie at
2.30.The Boleskine line up was similar to the previous 2 weeks with Joey Smith
again deputising in goals, but we welcomed back Laurence Parrot as sub for his
first involvement in about two years. The first half ended with no goals scored,
with the home side having more of the play. After the interval Beauly scored 3
goals as our defence tired, our forwards having few chances but with 5 minutes
remaining, full-forward Sandy Fraser took advantage of a mix up in the home
defence to score from close on. Another disappointing result, albeit against a
very strong side which contained quite a few Beauly players with first team
experience.
With our next match being a Strathdearn Cup tie in 2 weeks time, it is important
that we progress through at least a few rounds of the cup to keep our season
alive, as our chances of winning the league are looking slender at this stage.
Saturday 2
Boleskine met last weeks opponents Kincraig in the return league fixture at Inverarnie, once again we had a strong wind blowing down the park from the west. Kincraig with a few personal changes from last weeks team had the wind in their favour for the first period ,while Boleskine had Neil Robertson and Darren Macleod deputising for the unavailable Ian Hope and John Fraser. The opening period was fairly even with both sides creating openings, then in the eighteenth minute Sandy Fraser laid the ball back to Raymond Robertson at bucksee forward and his low drive from thirty yards opened the scoring. A minute later Lewis Smith had a good shot saved by the Kincraig keeper, then two minutes later his father Joey pulled of a fine save, but from the rebound Kincraig's John Clark was first to react levelling the scoring. In the twenty fourth minute the visitors took the lead, when Ian Grant beat his marker and his high thirty five yard drive found the net . Kincraig with the wind advantage had slightly the better of the play, but in the forty first minute Lewis passed the ball into space in the left wing for Darren Macleod, who had sprinted from the centre line to receive it and from twenty five yards cracked the ball high into the net . There was no more scoring before half time and with the wind advantage, the home support anticipated more pressure from Boleskine after the break, but could not have envisaged the whirlwind start to the half. In the first minute of the half Lewis Smith got the ball on the right edge of the D and promptly dispatched it past the keeper. A minute later Lewis received the ball thirty five yard out on the left side and with a good drive made it four goals to two in favour of Boleskine. In forty eight minutes a Raymond Robertson high ball from the centre was dummied by Sandy Fraser, bouncing through to Lewis who took it on hop, to score his third goal in as many minutes . Boleskine continued to dominate the game after this, playing some delightful shinty which the home support appreciated seeing again, and had hard luck not to increase their lead on several occasions. However Raymond Robertson after opening the scoring concluded it in the ninetieth minute, following a passing movement that found him in space to score a deserved second goal. Again a solid team performance, which had some fine individual performances in each area, resulting in a nice blend of shinty that created an enjoyable match to watch. Over the two games with Kincraig with the thirteen goals scored in total, there was not a poor goal amongst them, every goal came as the result of good shot . Credit also to to the referee who officiated the game in a low key manner, but was always in control of the situation.
Saturday 25 April Kincraig 1 Boleskine 4 (referee Jock Matheson)
Once again injuries and player unavailability restricted our player pool to thirteen, for the trip to play Kincraig. Boleskine dominated the play from the start of the game, but the accuracy in front of goals was missing, as it wasn't until the eleventh minute that their keeper had a save to make. In the seventeenth minute, a Raymond Robertson shot was well saved by the Kincraig keeper resulting in the ball falling to Simon Fraser. Who squared the ball back across goal and as the Kincraig keeper and Sandy Fraser tussled for it, the ball ended up in the net to open the scoring . Five minutes later Kincraig on one of there rare attacks in the first half following a free hit, the ball came to Neil Ross and from thirty five yards his shot high into the net to squared the match. In the thirty first minute Sandy Fraser laid the ball back to Raymond Robertson, whose rocket shot regained the lead for Boleskine . From a corner four minutes later, the ball crossed the high over the D and landed beside the unmarked Lewis Smith, who cracked it into the net to make the score three goals to one in Boleskine's favour at half time. In the fiftieth minute, Boleskine increased their lead when a high ball found Simon Fraser twenty five yards out and he shot high into the net to increase our lead. Bit by bit, the home side came back into the game and goalkeeper Joey Smith had to draw on all his craft and experience, with several excellent saves to keep his goal in tact. The defence were under pressure for long spell in the second period, but held out with each player performing well . Overall a good team performance with several keen contests in crucial areas of the park , which enabled us to gain another two points .
Saturday 18 April Strathglass 1 Boleskine 2 (referee Jock Matheson)
Today we travelled to Cannich for what potentially would be one of the season’s hardest matches and as in previous weeks, several key players were unavailable. We found ourselves a goal down after 3 minutes when goalkeeper Joey Smith, who otherwise had an excellent afternoon between the posts, was deceived by a bad bounce from a speculative long range shot which somehow ended up in the net. Boleskine had the best of the first half from then onwards and applied a lot of pressure on the home defence, scoring two goals in a five minute period. The first a high shot from Sandy Fraser in 30 minutes, the second a low drive into the corner from Lewis Smith.
After half-time Strathglass came more into the game taking a grip on the midfield so our forwards got few chances, but our defence stood firm and so the final score-line read 1-2 for Boleskine. On a lovely sunny afternoon, team spirit was excellent and it was good to see Raymond Robertson return to the side after recovering from an injury that has kept him on the side lines all season. With our next 2 matches against league strugglers Kincraig, it would be nice to think we could build on today’s victory and take maximum points from these games, moving ourselves nearer the top of the table.

Saturday 11 April Boleskine 0 Newtonmore 3 Sutherland Cup 1st round (referee James Gallagher)
Boleskine's interest in this years Sutherland cup was ended today by Newtonmore at a windswept Smith Park . Boleskine with the wind advantage in the first half started well, but fell behind to an Andrew Aitken penalty in the twelfth minute, following an infringement in the Boleskine area. For the rest of the half the home team had by far the better of the play , unfortunately they could force any sustained pressure on the visitors defence, or create any clear cut chances. In the second half Newtonmore dominated the play and four minutes into the half James Fraser came to the rescue with a great save from a high shot. James then had a further two good saves in as many minutes after this, as the visitors sought to increase their lead. In the sixty eighth minute following a hit in the ball came to Sandy Ralph and he scored with a low shot from thirty five yards. In the eighty seventh minute the same player made it three with a low bouncing shot. A disappointing result against a team from the next division up, if we had created and taken some chances in the first half with the wind, there is possibility that we could have scraped through to the next round. But it was not to be, so best wishes to Newtonmore in the next round .
Saturday 4 April Inverness 0 Boleskine 3 (referee Daniel Macrae)
Inverness at the Bught were today's opponents with a noon throw up, due to two games being scheduled for Inverness at home. As a game was played on each of the two Bught pitches ( inside and outside the stadium ), in all probability, the games could have been played simultaneously. Inverness fielded a more experienced team which included players who featured in the second match later in the afternoon . Both teams started cagily, testing each other out and Boleskine were fortunate in the ninth minute when a fierce Inverness drive came of the post . Both teams had openings in the first half with Boleskine having the edge on play, but it was one of these games that whosoever scored first, would probably carry the day. So with both defences holding firm and shots going wide, the half finished with no scoring. In the fifty seventh minute, Boleskine made the breakthrough when a bouncing Gregor Cameron shot found the net to open the scoring. Eight minutes later the same player had a good shot well saved by the Inverness keeper, but Lewis Smith was on hand to net the rebound from an acute angle to open his account for the season. We had the ball in the net a few minutes later, but this was correctly ruled out for an infringement. Inverness came back strongly into the game and we were fortunate to have Mathew Ross in excellent form, marshalling the defence to thwart the town side on numerous occasions. Five minutes from the end of play Lewis scored his second, with a shot from the edge of the D after good leading up work by Simon Fraser to conclude the scoring for the day . Once again an improvement on the previous weeks performance, that saw us gain our first win of the season and a moral boost before next Saturday Sutherland Cup tie against Newtonmore .
Saturday 28 Mar Boleskine 1 Lochbroom 1 (referee Dougie Cameron)
For the second time in as many weeks Boleskine had to change in the old facilities in the hall, as the new pavilion which we understood to have first call on, was once again given over to football. Boleskine had a few changes in personal this week with James Rolfe making his debut and James & David Fraser returning from University for the Easter break. Boleskine after such a poor start to the season were hoping to improve on previous results and started the game well having the better of the play in the early stages creating some openings, but never quite capitalising on them. In the nineteenth minute Lochbroom took the lead with a Jamie Macfadyan speculative high ball that stotted inside the D before landing in the net . We continued to have greater possession within our opponents half, but from one of their attacks Lochbroom were awarded a penalty in the forty fourth minute of the game . The resulting strike was hit passed the post so the match and as the half time whistle blew it was 1-0 to the visitors . Lochbroom grew in confidence as the game progressed, while Boleskine were needing a goal to give the team a boost and kick start their season . Sandy Fraser came to the rescue in the sixty ninth minute, coming out from the sawdust to pick the ball up about thirty five yards from goal and sent a curving shot high into the net. With twenty minutes to go the hopes were high among the home support that two points at stake would be coming our way, but chances fell to either side and none were taken . Boleskine's performance this week was a improvement on last week, but overall on today's play, a draw was a fair result against a Lochbroom team of experience and youth which is getting better every season.
Saturday 21 Mar Boleskine 0 Lochaber 4 (referee Roddie Maclennan)
Today's opponents Lochaber relegated from the second division last year, gave notice of their intentions in the first minute as a unmarked player from twenty five yards fired a good shot off the post, much to the relief of the Boleskine contingent. In the tenth minute the our cause was not helped, when new singing Gregor Cameron had to leave the field with a bad back injury . Lochaber dominated the game with the Boleskine defence constantly under pressure and hard pushed to keep the eager visiting forwards in check . Peter Tinney came to his sides rescue with a fine save with the hand in the twenty fifth minutes. Then disaster struck in a devastating five minute spell, when as the Lochaber forwards started playing one touch shinty . In the thirty eight minute Lochaber's Conor Sweeney, beat his marker and deftly flicked the ball into the net, two minutes later Patrick Toal scored the second with a shot from the left. In the forty third minute following an excellent fast passing movement from the centre line, the ball reached Danny Delaney on the left and he made it three goals to nil for the visitors at half time . The second period was more of the same and in the sixty fifth minute Danny Delaney scored his second to complete the scoring for the day . In the last ten minutes of the game Boleskine finally managed to get into the game and exert some pressure on the home defence, but to no avail, too little to late. Unlike last week there was very little wind, so overall the amount of play in the opponents half was a true reflection of the better team and on today's performance the young fast Lochaber team were first to every ball and fully deserved the the two points. With the teams current injury problems and after three games completed we are joint bottom of the table with no points, realistically it looks like our best hope for success this season lies in the cups .
Saturday 14 Mar Boleskine 0 Beauly 1 ( referee Russell Ross)
Another windy afternoon at Farr and Boleskine playing into the gale created few scoring chances in the first half, most of the play being in our own half but Peter Tinney and the rest of the defence coped easily with the Beauly attacks. Ten minutes after half time a shot was saved by Tinney, but a visiting forward was quicker to react than the home defence and scored the only goal of the match. Another disappointing afternoon and we need to start picking up points starting next Saturday, when we have a home game against Lochaber who will probably be one of the division’s stronger sides.

Saturday 7 Mar Ardnamurchan 3 Boleskine 2 (referee Jock Matheson )
We travelled to Strontian this
afternoon to play Ardnamurchan in our opening match of this season’s campaign.
Due to heavy rainfall in the last day or two parts of the pitch were swamp-like,
but we can not use this as an excuse as it was the same for both sides.
Boleskine dominated the first half, but missed chances and good defending
restricted the score-line to 1-0 at half time, courtesy of a Kevin Hunter strike
in the 25 minute. Any Ardnamurchan attacks were dealt with comfortably by our
defence with Neil Robertson standing in for the injured Graham Black at
full-back. Fifteen minutes into the second half Kevin scored his second with a
shot high into the net, which surely should have killed the game. The home side
however pulled a goal back 7 minutes later and this gave them a lift. Ten
minutes later they equalised, with a shot from wide on the right. Worse was to
follow and they scored the winner in the last minutes, after the Boleskine
defence failed to clear the ball. If a few more experienced players were
available today, this would have resulted in us closing down the match at 2-0
and taking 2 points from the fixture.
However with a run of home games starting next week and some more players being
available, hopefully we can mount a challenge for the league title.

Saturday 28 Feb Boleskine Challenge Cup Kinlochshiel 4 Boleskine 2
Last years Challenge Cup winners
Kinlochshiel, paid a return visit to Smith Park this afternoon as the home side
attempted to regain the cup.
Boleskine played the first half with the wind at their backs and they had the
upper hand in the early stages, but it was the visitors who snatched the lead in
25 mins with a shot from the right. Ten minutes later however the scores where
level, when Sandy Fraser found himself in space on the edge of the D and scored
with a fine shot. A few minutes later the same player had to retire from the
match having received a facial injury.
So 1-1 at half time and the game was in the balance, but Shiel now having wind
advantage scored in the 61st and 70th minutes. A shot from distance by Lewis
Smith made it 3-2 with 10 minute remaining, but almost immediately the 2 goal
lead was restored and thus it finished 4-2 in favour of Kinlochshiel.
Ten minutes from the end full-back Graham Black had to retire with an arm knock,
which later turned out to be a broken bone. With the league getting under way
next Saturday, this is very bad news with Graham looking set to miss at least
our first 6 or 7 matches. All in all it was a good performance from the team
against a strong team from the league above our own. Manager Bob Black was able
to give a run out to our 4 subs including a debut for former Inverness player
Gregor Cameron.
After the cup had been presented both sides retired to the Hall where soup,
sandwiches and refreshments were served.

Saturday 21 Feb Brian Stoddart & Donald Macgruer Memorial Cup Boleskine Veterans 0 Boleskine 2009 5
The Brian Stoddart & Donald Macgruer Memorial Cup, was this season's first home game for Boleskine. The veteran Boleskine team having team raising difficulties had to borrow three players from the current squad to make up the twelve, whilst the 2009 were a couple of experience players missing but had a full contingent of 15 players to pick from. The day was dry but with a strong cold west wind blowing which dictated the heavily on the outcome of the match . The veterans had the wind in the first half, which from the commencement of the game signalled by referee John Sloggie, enabled them to dominate the first period . The veterans pressure created numerous chances, a good shot by Duncan Macmillan brought out a fine save from Peter Tinney, then an excellent pass from Duncan Macdonald found Peter Gow whose shot unfortunately went wide . The veterans managed several other openings while their defence were capably dealing with any attacks by the youngsters. As the whistle blew for half time, the feeling amongst the spectators that the veterans had required to build a lead in the first half in order to win back the cup. This prognosis proved to be correct, as in the fourth minute of the second period the veterans keeper Peter Macdonald managed to get his club to a Lewis Smith shot, but could not keep it out the net. Six minutes later Scott Watson on his return to Smith Park, squeezed the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble, that had more bodies on the deck than standing . In the seventy first minute, Annie Butterworth made it three nil for the youngster with a good shot from the left wing. The youngsters scored two more before the end, Scott Watson getting his second from the edge of the D and Mike Pirrie with a shot from the right . The second half play was dominated by the current team, the strong wind and the lack of subs told on the veterans, as the youngsters introduced fresh legs throughout the half . The match was enjoyed by a large crowed of spectators which includes several ex Boleskine players Jock Macpherson, Steven Matheson, Kevin Stewart, Jim Chisholm, Ian Macmillan, Sandy Steel, Donald Kennedy, Gus Fraser, Sidney Fraser, John Murray and Teep Macdonald, one or two of them enjoyed a hit about at half time, perhaps next year they may be persuaded to don the strip again.
James Stoddart, Brian Stoddart's nephew presented the cup to 2009 captain Lewis Smith and medals to each team. The winners of the best player medals chosen by Jim Chisholm & James Stoddart, were presented to Mike Pirrie for 2008 and Allan Sumner for the Veterans.
2009 :- Peter Tinney, Mathew Ross, Graham Black, Sandy Fraser, John Fraser, Andrew Young, Ben Macpherson, Ian Hope, Lewis Smith, Chris Black, Mike Pirrie, Scott Watson, Gavin Butterworth, Annie Butterworth, and Robert Weatherspoon
Veterans :- Peter Macdonald, Joey Smith, Neil Robertson, John Cameron, Clive Girvan, Allan Sumner, Duncan Macmillan, Duncan Macdonald, Peter Gow, David Fraser, Simon Fraser and Allan Grant.
Saturday 31 Jan Glenurquhart 4 Boleskine 0
Boleskine travelled to Drumnadrochit s for the first friendly of the 2009 season . The weather was excellent for shinty dry and not too cold for the time of year . The Boleskine team travelled with thirteen players and by half time were trailing the home team by a goal to nil . In the second period the Glenurquhart team scored another three without reply to win the game by four goals to nil . Boleskine introduced young Robert Weatherspoon for his first team debut in the second half .
