TRIPLES K.O. CHAMPIONS 2010-11

In an exciting final on Thursday evening 20/1/11, Chinnor overcame a very strong Widmer End team  to become Triples KO Champions 2010-11.
The first triple of Sharon Drake (lead), Ron Major (two) and Keith Rogers (Skip) beat their opponents 9-8 in a very close run match.
The second triple of Barry Somers (lead), George Hunter (two) and Bob Hine (skip), lost one shot on the first end but then stormed ahead winning the next 7 ends, with Widmer End conceding defeat at 13-1 after 8 ends.
Congratulations and very well done to all the players, and special thanks to Holmer Green Club who hosted the final. It was very much appreciated and the cakes at half time were delicious.

JOHN ROBINSON MEMORIAL CUP

CHINNOR LIFT THE TROPHY

Beating Haddenham B by 69 shots to 30

Congratulations to Chinnor

and thanks to Wing for hosting this competition each year

Wing Sports & Social Club hosted the John Robinson Memorial Competition on Monday 11th April. The atmosphere in the club house was superb, with supporters from many of the clubs in the Vale League attending to cheer on the two teams taking part - Chinnor v Haddenham B.
The game got off to a flying start with the aggregate score after the singles being 26 - 6 in favour of Chinnor which really boosted their confidence. The pairs followed this up by winning both their games and after tea, the triples followed suit with the final score ending up 69 - 30 to Chinnor.
The whole game was played in a very good spirit and everyone enjoyed the competition.
This is the second trophy Chinnor has won this season. Can we make it three in a row ? Only the Hazells Shield to go. Well done everyone.
Chinnor missed out on the third trophy of the season in a disappointing final of the Hazells Shield which was held at the Railway Club in Aylesbury on Tuesday 3rd May. They lost to Sands 15 shots to 38 in a rather one sided match where Sands successfully mastered the very difficult mat. But no excuses - two out of three is very good and Chinnor should be proud of themselves for these successes.
FUND RAISING
A small band of fund raisers from the club, manned a plant stall at the Kingston Blount Street Fair on Saturday 14th May. The weather stayed fine, apart from an isolated shower and the many visitors created a great atmosphere. The stall made £162 towards club funds and only a few boxes of plants remained unsold. Well done to those willing helpers.
CHINNOR JUST MISS OUT ON LEAGUE WIN

Chinnor won their last match of the Winter Single Mat League season against Sands, giving them a total of  61 points. However, Bellingdon beat Widmer End C in their last game, giving them a total of 66 points, pushing Chinnor into second place.

This is still a good result for Chinnor who now enter the Summer league. Good luck to you all.
