RULE CHANGES
At the recent AGM of the E.S.M.B.A.,, there were a few rule changes which will appear in the revised version of the rule book. (date of publication yet to be confirmed)
The summary of these rules is as follows:
Proposal 2
That a dropped bowl can be retrieved and replayed unless it has crossed the dead line.
Proposal 4
Both the skip and the skip of the opposing team should be informed of any change in the playing order.
Proposal 6
The Glossary will now include the following definition of a “Line Decision”
Line Decision is a decision that must be made when the jack or a non-
Proposal 7
Directing Play: Only one player will be allowed to direct the play of the team member about to bowl. Other team members may assist with deciding how to make the next play and for this purpose may be allowed onto the mat to examine the head. All must leave the mat before the next bowl is delivered.
Proposal 8
Only scorecards marked on the rink will be valid.
Proposal 8a
As a consequence of passing proposal 8
The duties of a second in a Fours game would have to be deleted from the rulebook. The duties of a second in a Triples game would only be to agree the shot or shots and to inform the skip or appointed scorer.
Proposal 9
That the jack may act upon a toucher already in the ditch and that it be marked in its new position in the ditch.
National Championships 2010
Each year the ESMBA invite all registered players to enter the National Championships. To enter these National Championships players must first qualify through Local Heats organised by their County. (For details of the full championship rules please see page 10 of the ESMBA Information Pack issued to your club when you registered.)
The Bucks County qualifying heats will be held on 29Th November, 6th December 2009 and 17th January 2010 at the Polish Club, Amersham. Which events will be on which of these dates depends on the number of entries to each event and can therefore only be decided after receipt of applications.
The National finals for mixed fours will be held on Saturday 27th March and under 18’s on Sunday 28th March (the venue for these two events will be advised later) – the Singles, Pairs, Fours and Triples will be on 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th April 2010 respectively (these will be held at Kettering Leisure Village).
Unless you can commit to these dates you should not enter.
Enclosed are entry forms for each of the events.
Except for the date of the Local Heats, which will be issued to you after all the applications have been reviewed, the entry forms should be fully completed and returned to the County Organiser by 7th November 2009 at the latest, together with the appropriate fee of £4.00 per person per event.
Cheques should be made payable to BSMBA and entries must be on the coloured forms provided.
This competition is the ideal opportunity to enjoy the best of competitive bowling at county level and for the winners at national level. All our clubs are encouraged to enter teams for some or all of the events.
