Model Electronics
The lost model alarm project is the first to be published and should keep you " Electronic Constructors " Busy for a short while ? .
... Have Fun ...Ken...
Lost model alarm This unit is Both simple and cheap to make , It could well prove useful if last years crops of maize are repeated . (We nearly lost Ron shone last summer) . The unit is equipped with and old servo lead , and simply plugs in a spare receiver channel . If the worst should happen and the model disappears , all you have to do is switch off your transmitter and the alarm will sound continuously , Being a high frequency alert the sound carries well .
Veroboard Layout Left Looking from the top component side And Right Looking from the copper side..
Measuring just 20*20 m/m . It is best to build the module on the corner of a larger piece of veroboard , when completed,The board can be cut down using a razor saw . The single link and the three breaks in the board pattern should be completed at this time .
All components are available from Maplins or farnell electronics catalogues .
The transistors used can be any general purpose ones two pnp and one npn types..
The sounder Must have an internal driver .
A Picture of the prototype
I have just finished installing the prototype in my precedent fun fly .. It's like insurance you hope you never need to use it.. Two interesting side effects have been observed , First the unit will warn of any severe radio interference , Secondly an alarm will sound or be a fairly quiet one , If the servos are rotated whilst the unit is switched off , The servo motor generating enough power to do this from just moving any of the control surfaces manually ,
