The Shrubsole name appears in many places all over Kent from the 1500's onwards, and over time branches of the family have moved on to pastures new, creating a forest of Shrubsole trees around the world.
This site is about one of those trees; the one to which I belong.

Welcome to my first attempt at a web site, and please bear with me whilst I am learning and 'tweaking' as I go along.
I have published this site, in the hope that it may interest others, and also help me to make contact with people researching the same family. So far I have reached back to approximately the 1760's and am hoping to improve on this with further research. This seems to be a brick wall at present, so whilst I'm chipping away at it research continues sideways and backwards on other lines.
My Gt x 3 grandparents were born in the 1760's and lived with their children in Monks Horton, Kent. I hope to eventually find where they originated. The family spread out from Monks Horton over the years and my grandfather ended up in Folkestone, Kent, where I was born. I spent my childhood years in Nigeria and returned to live in Kent when I was a teenager.
During my quest to find my family I have been accumulating a database of the Shrubsole name and continue to collect this data as I research. One day I hope to be able to put an index of that data online. However I am happy to check my data for you if you would like to e-mail me with your request.
In the meantime please do have a look at my branch of the Shrubsole family. It is recorded from the 'Generations - Family Tree' software, and for those of you not familiar with this, it is laid out in Family Cards. Each card displays information about one immediate family - a person and their spouse in the middle, their children at the bottom and their parents at the top. To climb up and down the branches click the parent or child names to move you backwards and forwards in time. It will be added to, as and when more family are found.
If anyone has any information on this family that can help me in my quest to go further backwards and sideways in time I would dearly love to hear from them.
Thank you for visiting my site and please be kind enough to sign my guestbook as feedback is always welcome.
I am in the process of transcribing the Monks Horton and Stanford census returns, and these will be added to the site as and when completed; the 1901 of Monks Horton and the 1881 of Stanford are done and you can reach them via the link to census returns.
The site also contains a section on "other Shrubsole's" - purely for interest; some have found a place in history & some have just caught my imagination but they are not connected to my tree.
There is also a photo album containing photos of some of my ancestors along with a few places of interest. I will soon be adding some photos from my grandmother's collection that I have not yet identified; perhaps you will be able to help with identification?
Please also bear in mind that if you find any of your family here it is always advisable to check out the original source material to confirm the details; I may have made a mistake in the transcribing, or interpretation of the original handwriting. You are welcome to contact me first in case I am holding a copy of the original, which I will gladly share with you.
