What to Expect

When you arrive at the Org organic shop and cafe, please ask for Tom at the front counter, and I will escort you down to the treatment rooms on the lower floor. If it’s your first time, I will take you through a 10 minute consultation, which involves asking a few standard medical questions. This information is entered on a client record form which is strictly confidential.

Once this is completed, we can discuss what you hope to get out of your session. This is your time to tell me about any specific areas of tension or pain, and whether you would like a deeply soothing massage, or a more invigorating treatment. For those who respond strongly to music, I actively encourage clients to share their favourite relaxation music. Please feel free to bring along a CD.

Having discussed your needs, I will indicate how you are to lie on the massage table, and I will leave the room to give you privacy while you undress to your comfort level and lie under a large towel on the massage table. Typically, clients undress their upper half completely, leaving underwear on the lower half of their body. If you prefer to leave an undergarment on as well, this is perfectly fine.

I will knock on the door before re-entering the room to ensure you are fully covered and ready for the massage to begin. The lighting and music will then be adjusted to your needs, and the massage will begin with some soothing introductory stokes using either oils or lotions.

During the course of the massage, areas of your body will be modestly exposed, and your body’s soft tissues will be manipulated using gliding, kneading, pressing, rolling and tapping techniques.

Once the massage is complete, I will once again leave the room to allow you some privacy to relax and dress. Absorbent towels are available for removing any excess oils before changing into your clothing. I will then knock on the door before entering, and offer a glass of water before concluding the massage.
