The Club is run by a Committee of Volunteers with the support of members who volunteer to organise walks, social events, weekends away and occasional holidays.
A six monthly programme of walks and social events is produced - Saturday walks are usually 5-7 miles and Sunday walks are mainly 10-12 miles but can be longer.
On Monday evenings during the Summer, short walks of about 4 miles are organised, but from late September to early April on the 2nd and 4th Mondays, slide shows and talks are held at the Burton Library instead.
In addition to the walks shown on the Programme, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday there is usually a walk of 4-5 miles. Members can contact the Wednesday Rambles Convenor for details.
There is an annual Christmas Party and Christmas Lunch Ramble. In addition, members may arrange coach rambles, trips to the theatre and other events during the year.
Costs are minimal because of the enthusiasm and commitment of all the volunteers. A membership fee of £2.50 a year covers the production of the programme card and all the running expenses of the club.
However you can try us out for a couple of walks for free!
You will also have to pay your share of travelling expenses if you have a lift to the start of the walk. This is determined by the leader but is based on a charge of 7p per mile.
The evenings at the Burton Library on Monday evenings carry an entrance fee of £1.50 each.
