Craig Hilton & Alex Watson's
I have known Craig for over twenty years as we went to the same school, Alsager Comprehensive, where I was in the year above Craig & we have had the pleasure of knowing Alex for over fifteen years. I asked Craig to be my best man at our wedding back in October 7th 1989, which he did with his unique flair & on this day he told us about him & Alex getting engaged. With the normal efficiency of Craig & Alex, when we received the invitation to their wedding in Edinburgh, we also had a list of hotels, maps of the area & helpful advice about parking & travelling in Edinburgh to help us get organised. Out of the many on the list we chose the 4 star "AmarAgua" guesthouse & we were not disappointed. The owners Dawn-Anne & Tony Costa were very pleasant, the rooms were beautifully decorated & with little touches that you would normally find in larger hotels & would normally have to pay for such as fresh flowers in your room & around the hotel, all the towels you will need, bath robes, & a varied selection of food for breakfast. We travelled up from Cheshire on the Friday morning & it took around four hours to get to Edinburgh & after un-packing our things, we spent the evening getting our bearings around the city ready for Saturday & Sarah still managed to locate another F1 & motorsport shop to nip in to when it opened on Saturday morning (she had checked the net a few days before I found out later). On the Saturday the forecast for the weather was not too good, they had put dark clouds, & even lightening on the maps, but we had no need to worry. During the ceremony, where I was honoured to be one of the witnesses & hand the rings over to Craig & Alex & also whilst taking the photos outside the registry office & chatting outside the reception, which was held at the Botanical Gardens the clouds gathered & we could hear the thunder, much to Teds amusement, but they stayed away & it did not rain on us. Only when we were inside eating our meal did it rain & it had gone by the time the meal was over. The rest of the evening was a mixture of meeting friends old & new, listening to a jazz group or watching a children's entertainer, & an evening buffet.
We travelled back on the Sunday, avoiding the rain Inverness & other areas had had that night to get back home & start on this site as a surprise & to transfer the photos onto disc. We hope, Craig & Alex, that you like this page & if anyone who was at the wedding wants to add anything to this page then please get in touch with us & we will sort it out. |
