Training
Injury for Franki - 19th December 2006
Today we returned to the consultant for the results of last week's MRI
scan. The good news is that there is no fracture or other bone damage to the joint, but
the scan clearly shows significant inflamation in the joint. An anti inflamatory substance
was injected into the joint and the situation will be re-assesed on 2nd January. Franki
still hopes to be skiing by 20th January, but she may require keyhole surgery to tidy up
the joint if the situation is still not improving.Xmas training plans cancelled - 12th December 2006
Franki's ankle has not been improving over the last few weeks, despite frequent visits tot
he physio and today she was seen by a specialist at the London Foot and Ankle clinic. IThe
consultant has confirmed that she has been having all the right treatment from the physio,
but there is clearly a more significant problem, and she will not be able to travel out to
Norway this weekend to join the team for training. She is bitterly disappointed to be
missing not only this key training period, but also to be missing out on the opportunity
to try to qualify for the European Youth Olymipcs, which had been the key goal for this
year. However, she is looking forward to having her first proper family Christmas for a
number of years and is determinied to be skiing again by the 20th January.
Training Injury for Franki
- 26th
October 2006
Doctors in Switzerland have confirmed that the ankle injury sustained in fitness training
yesterday is a ruptured ligament. She will be returning to the UK early next week to begin
intensive physio in the hope that she will be fit enough for the England Team Christmas
training camp in Norway, including the Youth Olympic trials. |
