Adventure training and fieldcraft

Adventure training

Air cadets can take part in adventure training activities. These include walking and the Duke of Edinburgh's award.

Slough Sqn goes on a yearly visit to Bear's Rails camp site where cadets learn basic camp craft skills such as fire lighting. Please visit our gallery of pictures from Bears Rails. Or you can read about on cadet's experience here.

Also available in the ATC are canooeing and climbing

Fieldcraft

The term fieldcraft covers events such as night exercises, over night exercises and training in camouflage and concealment. Cadets are trained in a variety of skills, which they can apply in the environment of exercises.

Exercises take on a variety of scenarios including the idea of a down pilot where cadets have to locate a dummy and recover it. Exercises combine and test the skills of map reading, leadership, teamwork and specific skills such as camouflage and concealment.
