The year has been great and a real enjoyment for all the cadets involved in the wide range of activities.
I began my year a new cadet my first main event
was Bears Rails which was freely open to all cadets. Bears Rails was a camping trip
at Windsor Great Park done primarily for our enjoyment but it also built
our navigational skills and survival skills.
Every day we did a different activity ranging from tri-pod building to
navigating our way through Windsor Great Park, exploring and finding places using a map and compass. On Saturday evening we even had to prepare our own dinner over
an open fire.
Throughout the year we have done other activities like flying
and have sent many people many for their first time but also
flying more experienced cadets who have flown many
times before. We get to enjoy the experience of flying and gliding at RAF Benson and
612 volunteer gliding school at Abingdon respectively. We have sent many cadets to RAF Marham:
the home of the tornado. Many cadets commented that it was "The best camp they had ever been on".
Our squadron has always been a very co-operative and hard working squadron and because of
this has seen an increase of cadets (almost double) in one year this has meant vast improvements in
our squadron and more opportunities for more young eager cadets ready to join.
Overall this has been a great year and has seen much activity and improvement not just in
the squadron but in the cadets themselves. Let's hope the next year goes the same way, if not better! |
