(Byron Lee) V/A - Jamaica Ska - Rhino 1980

The show band Byron Lee & The Dragonaires influence on Ska or any another style of Jamaican music as been minimal. Yet Byron Lee's business influence as been a lot greater and still exists within the reggae business even today. This album was originally released by Atlantic Records in America in the mid sixties, and features some great artists including The Maytals, The Blues Busters, Stranger & Ken, The Charmers, and Byron Lee & The Ska Kings all of whom contribute some great examples of late ska.

(Byron Lee) V/A - Dynamic Sounds Of Jamaica Vol 1 - Dragon - 1973. Ten years or so later with reggae music through Bob Marley And The Wailers poised for great things, we find Dynamic Sounds and Byron Lee lining up as well to grab a piece of the action. This album launched the Dragon label in the UK with distribution initally by Island. And it must be said that the selection here is pretty diverse. Ranging from Scorpion's strange DJ tune 'Deadly Sting' produced by Boris Gardiner, to Adina Edwards's big people tune 'Write Me A Letter'.
