Great London Rideout June 2006 London Rides Out Stu set off again on his lonesome to attend the 10th annual London to Southend rideout, an event I've always wanted to do and the 10th anniversary seemed as good an excuse as any, ain't been on a scooter rally to Southend since the legendary 79 riots. It's a cracking rideout starting from Regents park taking in The Mall, regents Street, Oxford circus, Picadilly circus,along the banks of the Thames up through the Minories and out through the East end to Romford and finally the A127 to Southend. Due to it being London, road blocking is a no no so a second assembly point occurs at the Dick Turpin pub for the final ride into Southend. 300 or so scooters, most Christmas trees, lane splitting on the A127 is quite extraordinary. Park up on the seafront, had some chips then a dash for home. Blocked a main jet twice on crappy London petrol, loosened a connector on the CDI but couldn't be bothered remaking it at the roadside as scoot only spluttered going through 50, fine after that. Last 20 miles couldn't go above 40, misfire was so bad. Still home in under 5 hours even with those problems. Click on any picture to enlarge
