Introduction:
The Order of On
Call Clergy is part of the Christian Church. It is not aligned to any
denomination or movement. It welcomes men and women who are already
working in a non-denominational form of Christian ministry, who
believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and accept the Holy
Bible to be the word of God.
The
objectives of the Order are:
+ to sow the seed,
which is the word of God, in churches, mission halls, house
visitations, the open air, schools, clubs, hotels, hospitals, nursing
homes and at national shows and exhibitions,
+ to always show
respect for all people,
+ to preach and
teach the good news of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The
Vision:
The Order was
founded in October, 1999, and its vision is to have clergy 'on call'
in all parts of the UK, to attend any situation, emergency or otherwise.
All members are
ordained priests, ministers, deacons, bishops and members of
religious orders.
The Order remains
totally independent of any denomination and so do its members. Each
person is free to minister in their own way under the grace of the
all loving God. Members are first and foremost accountable to God and
then to each other through the help and support they both give and
receive in Christian love as they 'sow the seed'.
The established
ministries which already exist in the main stream churches and
mission halls need feel no threat from members of the Order working
in their areas. Competition would be a fruitless exercise. Jesus
said, 'By their fruits shall ye know them', and it is only in seeing
members in action that their work will be justified.
Doctrinal
statement:
We believe in the
divine inspiration of the Holy Bible.
We believe in the
Lord Jesus Christ, that He was eternally one with the Father, that He
became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary.
We also believe that He is the perfect sinless man who came into the
world to save sinners and offer eternal life to all who believe in Him.
We believe that He
died on the cross, gave up His spirit to his Father God, that His
body was buried, and that three days later He arose from the dead and
appeared to many people.
We further believe
that He ascended into Heaven and is engaged in making intercession
for us.
We believe that
the Lord Jesus Christ will come again, that believers who are alive
at His coming will not precede those who are asleep in Christ Jesus,
but that we shall be caught up with the saints to meet the Lord and
be forever with Him.
We believe in the
immortality of the soul and the final judgement of God.
'The
eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him,
on
those whose hope is in His unfailing love.'
Psalm
33, verse 18
