Speedy and sociable these little creatures come in several different varieties, the Campbells Russian, Winter White Russian, Roborovski and Chinese being the most common.
These little creatures are fascinating to watch as they go about their business.
They can however be more timid than their Syrian cousin and are not suitable for young children due to their fast movement and somewhat skittish behaviour. They will live happily in single sex groups if introduced at a young age. Typical sizes are 4-5 cm for the Roborovski, 10-12 cm for the Campbells and Chinese and 8-10 cm for the Winter White.
Coat patterns vary according to species with the Winter White changing from a brown to white colour in the winter time.
Average life span is between 2-3 years.
