1972Astronauts Cernan, Schmitt and Evans leave the Moon, ending the first phase of manned exploration of our solar system. For the remaining decades of the twentieth century, human beings would be restricted to carrying out experiments in low Earth orbit. The planets would be visited only by robotic probes. So goes the official story. Unknown to the governmental space agencies of the world, a mysterious benefactor, unable to accept the end of man's exploration of the cosmos in person, created a corporation called Cosmic Venture Inc. This organisation served as a means for redirecting investments into a private manned space programme while appearing on the surface to be simply a financial group dealing in venture capital. Over the following decade a number of key NASA experts `retired' and found employment as advisors to Cosmic Venture. Developing the technologies of the Apollo programme into the next generation of manned interplanetary craft, they began to send astronauts back into space in 1983. None of these missions were publicised. The discoveries made were recorded in a secret archive against the day when the world would regain the political will to go back out into space.

Recent events have persuaded the trustees of Cosmic Venture that mankind may now be ready to rediscover the planets and so some of the logs of the crew of the lunar station Farside and its fleet of Spacepod interplanetary craft are now being released through this official website. Negotiations with the world's political powers are ongoing as Cosmic Venture fears the warlike implementation of its advanced technologies. So the logs presented here do not contain precise technical details about the craft employed and are intended only to advance the scientific achievements of the Spacepod crews in their exploration of our solar system.
