The Pikeman

The Re-enactor Pikeman

We attempt to portray the Pikeman as historically accurate as possible, given the need for safety, thus swords are blunt and pike heads are made of rubber for fighting, although sharp ones may be seen on living history camps.

To be a pikeman you will need to be fairly fit as you will have to bear the weight of your arms whilst fighting. The battles usually last for about an hour, however, we have done some, with short breaks, which last for 4! (Webmaster's note:  The long ones were excellent fun)

As a Pikeman (and any other roles) we do not expect you to get all the equipment in one go, but build it up over time, thus spreading the cost. The regiment will help with any equipment shortages until you can get them yourself. The following table shows the equipment and time scales for acquiring:
