We re-enact the English Civil War as the personal regiment of Robert Devereux, the Lord General of the armies of Parliament in 1642. Robert Devereux was the Third Earl of Essex, affectionately known as Old Robin and a veteran of the Thirty Years War in Europe.
Our regiment, also known as the Earl
of
Essex regiment, is one of four who make up the London Brigade and we
fight
alongside other Associations of the Army of Parliament against
the
Royalist Army for charity as part of the Sealed Knot. These battles and
re-creations of the turbulent times of the middle of the 17th century
take place around the country (and occasionally abroad) usually on
weekends during the summer months.
