New SPEEDEX—like aluminium wheels have been manufactured by Derek Jones, ring 01905 767838 at weekends or after 6pm. The price of the wheels is £165 each not including any delivery charges. No VAT is payable. This is for a 'look alike’ SPEEDEX wheel cast in LM 25 aluminium, heat treated and fully machined. The wheel specification is 4 1/2 inch wide x 15 inch diameter and a 1.9 inch offset. The wheel is supplied with 3 off stainless steel hexagon cone wheel nuts and 3 off zinc plated steel inserts that are pressed into the wheel for the wheel nut to clamp against. This wheel nut arrangement suits the length of the standard A7 wheel nut stud. The wheel is intended only for use with an inner tube. A deposit of £65 per wheel upon confirmation of an order followed by a balance payment of £100 per wheel prior to despatch of goods. |

Not quite a ‘For Sale’ but Rod Yates who makes reproduction A7 Sports bodies like long wheel base Ulsters has made a ‘50’s/’60’s style body based on the lines of the SPEEDEX 750. Does this suggest that the shift in interest from concours restored saloons to sports a number of years ago is now progressing further into less traditional looking A7’s? Fragile Austin Seven parts are being remanufactured by Austin Seven Components. Well known weak items such as steering drop arms and crankshafts have been remanufactured with improved design and materials to eliminate the risk of failure. Their latest project is a series of crownwheel and pinions. These are getting harder to find in good matched condition and are being made to suit both narrow and wide axles with a range of ratios.
