Scott joined Exeter at the start of 1973 aged 19. Born in Maywood California on Sept 7th, 1953, Scott had his first taste of competitive racing at the age of eleven when he was a regular performer on the Scramble circuits.

A few years later he switched to short track and had his first speedway outings at the Lancaster track which was promoted by Barry Briggs and former American business partner Pete Palmer, before switching to regular action at Harry Oxley's Costa Mesa Bowl.

Scott's introduction to speedway came via the father of another top American Racer Larry Shaw, and he finished 13th in the 1970 USA National Championship. A season later he tied for fifth place whilst in 1972 he finished runner up to Rick Woods. He had spent time studying at College with the view to becoming a barrister, but gave it up to concentrate on becoming a proffessional Speedway rider. His opinion then, was that he could study law later - but not take up Speedway.

In his debut season for Exeter he was too average 6.38 from 35 matches, but was too flourish in later seasons and mature into a World Class rider. Scotts class was showing the following season (1974) and he was a big factor in Exeter's Championship win. He had increased his average to 8.32 from his ever present 36 matches.

The stylish Scott just continued to improve and in 1975 he increased his average again to 9.19 from 37 matches whilst in 1976 it was 9.24 from 34. In 1977 he turned out for 37 matches and maintained his average finishing the season at 9.13, the only matches missed were due to World Championshipship duty and was still ranked USA's No1 despite having having being eliminated in the American qualafying Final.

In 78 he took over as Exeter's No1 with the departure of Ivan Mauger and continued to increase his average as from 45 matches he finsihed on 10.50. Scotts 1979 average of 10.91 topped the British League Averages, but it was to be his last season in the colours of Exeter as the Falcons dropped down a league in 1980 and Scott moved on.

When he left he moved to Swindon for a season before switching to Poole in 1981. Scott was then soon to return home to stay, and during the mid-eighties was to be found on National stock car scene. These days, Scott is still a high-flyer, and is currently a Helicopter  Pilot in West Texas.
