Steve was Born on the 26.11.1963 in Bristol, and began on the Swindons books in 1981, making one appearance for the Robins at Poole.

Was initially loaned out to Canterbury, but after just two matches he made the move to join Exeter, and rode his first match for the Falcons at Rye House where scored a creditable paid 5. By the end of that season, Steve appeared in 20 matches averageing 4.37.

In 1983 he had been ever present and appeared in all 42 matches for Exeter, ending on an improved average 7.04, no little wonder that Exeter then bought him outright. But when the Exeter team moved back up into the British League in 1984, Steve was to spend most of his time riding for Stoke, appearing only nine times for Exeter and averaged 2.08.

Returned to Exeter for the 1985 season, scoring well at home but finding life something of a struggle away from home. Appeared in 38 matches during that 1985 season averaging 7.13. In 1986 he was ever present in the Exeter team and averaged 7.05 from 40 matches before putting in a transfer request at the end of the season. He attracted the attention of several clubs, finally moving on to Arena Essex for the 1987 season.

Returned for the 1989 season when he maintained his average, ending the season on 7.04 from his 18 appearances for the Falcons.

Last rode for Exeter in 1990, and was hoped to be included in the 1997 side, but because of Grass track Commitments, he was unable to devote his time to racing at the County Ground. Rode in 34 matches for Exeter in 1990 averaging a lower 5.19.
