Mike appeared in 17 matches during 1967 averaging 3,90, but was loaned to Plymouth at the
start of 1968, being recalled shortly afterwards to help out during injuries. Poor form led
to him being swapped with another Plymouth loanee, Chris Bass unti injuries agin saw him return
to the County Ground and improve rapidly. He scored his only paid maximum against Oxford
in July of 1968 and averaged 6.37 from 28 meetings. In 1969 he averaged 5.51 from 37 meetings for the Falcons

Matt had come through the Sheffield training school and had rideden for their C.L side
before being given the chance when Exeter lost Dave Osborne. Became something of a
sensation in 2001 before fracturing his thigh having averaged 4.13 prior to that from 8
meetings. Struggled to recapture his form in 2002 which wasn't helped by a broken
wrist sustained at Stoke during a KO Cup match and rode for C.L Wimbledon in 2003

bargain. he averaged 6,48 from 33 matches in that first season, whilst in 1982 that jumped up
to 8.38 from 38 matches. Such was his form that he moved to B.L Poole for the 1983 season

Born in Preston on January 28th, 1960, Louis had been brought to Exeter from Wolverhampton
in an effort to salvage their poor start to 1984 return to British League racing.
He showed early promise for the Falcons, with a paid nine against Oxford, but was soon
to be sidelined with a busted ankle and it wasn't until the closing part of the season
that he managed to find any kind of early form. Averaged 4.15 from 25 matches.

Norman had ridden two seasons for Exeter when tragedy struck on January 20th 1950 in
Australia. Norman was riding in his native homeland during the winter months, and it was
during a meeting at the Sydney Sports Ground that he was involved in a bad spill with
Ray Duggan who rode for Harringay. Both riders suffered bad injuries on that fatal day
and were both to die as a result. During his spell at Exeter, Norman was to average over
8pts with a total of 648pts from 80 matches for the Falcons before his untimely death.

Born in Exeter on August 11th, 1965 and the son of Exeter rider Bob Coles, it was perhaps
inevitable that Mike was to one day appear in the Green and White of Exeter. This he did in
1982 after second half rides in 1981 and embarked on an epic period with Exeter that was to
rewrite the record books. Apart from being at Weymouth in 1984, and a period away between 1988
until 1996, Michael has become a permanent fixture at the County Ground, and for the most
part, the mainstay of the Exeter Falcons. read more

Chris got his opportunity in 1998 when he showed early promise and averaged 2.43 from 10
matches for the Falcons. Was included into the full side for 1999, but struggled to make
the grade at P.League level and managed an average of 2.24 from 22 meetings. Was
eventually replaced by Wayne Barrett. Reverted back to the C.League and fared much better
with Newport and then Rye House before attempting a P.L return when Rye House moved up to
P.L Level and again found points hard to come by.

Cliff was signed by Exeter from the Plymouth track when it closed at the end of 1962
for a fee of £130, and was to line up alongside his former team mate Eric Howe. Suffered
a broken leg in 1964 when he only appeared in 19 matches and only five in 1965. Had hoped
to rejoin Plymouth when it re-opened in 1968 but ill health prevented him doing so, though
he did join Bristol in 1977 as an advisor to the Juniors. SadlyCliff passed away on 19th
August 2004 at the RUH Hospital in Bath.

David had been brought into the side in 1964 from Hackney Wick after impressing in a
second half ride at the County Ground and was to really impress when he scored a paid
three ride maximum in his home debut. However, David was a Norwich assett, and the
National League club banned him from riding for Exetery despite threats of Legal action
from Wally Mawdsley. And so he left having scored 24 points from his five meetings for
Exeter.

New Zealander Bruce made his debut in British speedway back in 1965 with the Poole Pirates.
His best scoring years however were with Exeter having joined in 1970 and was to remain
at the County for three years before moving on to Cradley in 1973. He returned to the
County Ground in 1986 and continued where he left off before a bad accident in 1987
virtually finished his career and eventually retired at the close of the 1988 season. read more

Tom had been in the line up as reserve upon Exeter's first League season in the National
league following his efforts in the trial meeting to see who would be in the starting
line up for the season. He was one of several Grass Track riders to compete for a place
at a time when Exeter were somewhat short of riders. In that year he scored 63 points
seemingly missing the latter part of the season. Sadly, Tom was killed in a car accident
during the winter of 1947.
