EATHER, ROY - 1953
Sadly, Roy was never to make it into the full Exeter line-up following a double tragedy. Hoping to break into British speedway, Roy had come over from Australia for trials at the County Ground, but during his first practice session he crashed and suffered concussion. After he had recovered from his injuries, he returned for his second practice session only to crash again but this time he failed to recover and died in hospital that afternoon.
EIDE, REIDAR - 1978
Born on the 6th November 1940 in Norway, Reidar joined Exeter as a replacement for John Titmanwho had gone to Leicester, and proved to be one of the bargains of the season. He quickly regained his old form and soon became a Heat Leader for the Falcons scoring his first maximum against Bristol. Was temporarily suspended by Exeter for refusing to ride against Wolverhampton, but after missing a couple of matches he was soon back in the line up. He ended on a CMA of 8.44 from 41 matches. Sadly died from a fever called Brucellosis in 1999 aged just 58
ELDRIDGE, BOBBY - 2000, 2001, 2002
Born November 28th 1978 in Eastbourne, Bobby joined Exeter at the start of the 2000 season and ended his first season ona CMA of 6.76 from 43 matches. Had looked a great prospect before injuries took their toll. A knee injury badly disrupted his 2001 season and he rode in just 26 meetings to average 5.28. Then in August 2002, he suffered serious back injuries which were to keep him out for 2003. Prior to that crash, Bobby had raced in 20 meetings and averaged 5.52
ELKINS, JUSTIN - 1991
Justin came to Exeter on loan from Poole in 1991 when Richard knight had been badly injured. Justin Elkins averaged 3.45 from 14 match appearances and went on to join Swindon in 1992. Aged only 17, he had been on loan to Rye House but was released after failing to make an impression there.
EVITTS, PAUL - 1988
Paul was to join Exeter from the then defunct Canterbury outfit, and hopes were high that he would recapture some of his old form from the days he rode at Birmingham, but apart from the occasional glimpses of his earlier style, Paul failed to live up to expectations. Together with a re-occurring back injury and the arrival of new signing Richard Green, Paul was eventually released from his contract. From five matches, he averaged 4.38 for the Falcon's.
