Ian Loxley Lodge Lane Upton - Fanatical amateur photographer,
subjects, in the main, Family, landscape and weather related.
I am the Photo Gallery Editor for The Cloud Appreciation Society,
www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/which was founded in 2004 in
Cornwall, at a literary festival, by writer and TV and Radio
broadcaster Gavin Pretor- Pinney.
What started as a fun item has really taken off and Gavin has
travelled
the globe, in request for interviews, regarding the society, the
most recent being in America on media mogul Martha Stewart’s popular
lifestyle TV show.
We now have an incredible 11,560 members, this number increases at a
daily rate……….members are from all walks of life and over 40
country’s worldwide, we have approaching 3,500 fantastic photo’s on
the website gallery, which I add too on a daily basis.
Images are from a worldwide source, that is my role for the society,
people send them in, direct to me at
ian@cloudappreciationsociety.org
Or via the site, from the submissions page
www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/photo-submissions/
And I post them on to the gallery…… www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/gallery
Have a look, and feel free to send photo’s in to me, I am sure we
have some talented snappers in the village, I would love to display
some more from our local area on the web site.
The Society has two books published The Cloudspotters Guide
www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/cloudspotters-guide
and A pig With Six Legs
http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/cloud-lookalikes-book/
Which is a collection of cloud look alike photo’s, the cover image
being a photo of mine captured in the plumes from West Burton Power
Station, which some of you may have seen in the local and national
press.
I also had a photo of a lightning flash I captured, printed in the
new book called Storm Force, from Ian MacCaskill, Michael ‘what
Hurricane’ Fish and Paul Hudson TV weathermen,
I am also involved with TORRO The Tornado and Storm Research
Organisation, as a gallery archivist,
http://www.torro.org.uk/TORRO/index.php
As the name implies, all manner of severe weather is researched
by the organisation, with a view to greater understanding of such
phenomena, which then assists in better forecasting and warning of
severe weather events.
Please feel free to send to me at
ian.loxley@torro.org.uk
any details of local severe weather events, ( which in truth we hope
never occur) be it Hail, Thunder, Flood, Tornadoes, Funnel clouds
and the like that you may experience, or have experienced, but
please I cannot stress highly enough, please keep safe when trying
to capture such events on camera.
I will accept a varied type of photo for TORRO as you will see I
maintain a number of subjects on the gallery ……….Tornadoes, Hail,
Severe Weather, Research, General Weather and Lightning....
And finally - The Gainsborough Snappers camera club which I am
involved with, has just started its own website here
http://www.gainsboroughsnappers.co.uk/
Still in the development process, should in time build to quite
and interesting display of local photography….
Look forward to hearing from fellow Upton residents
Best wishes
Ian Loxley
