Staffordshire
Blind was constituted to provide a support service to people
with sight problems, their carers and families. We aim to promote
independence and enhance daily living for people with impaired
vision by giving information, advice and practical support.
Should
you or your family be experiencing problems, Staffordshire Blind
is here to help. You may wish to discuss the difficulties of
coping with daily living tasks, such as telling the time, reading,
writing or using the telephone. We can visit you at home or
come to our specialist shop at the centre in Stafford. If you
are attending Stafford, North Staffs or Burton hospital, our
staff at the information desk in the eye clinic outpatient department
will be pleased to help you - no need to make an appointment.
The
specialist shop at the centre includes easy-to-see watches,
low vision lighting, magnification equipment, large print crossword,
diaries, telephone and address books. Electronic aids such as
talking bathroom, kitchen scales and talking microwaves are
also on display. Equipment can be tried and tested, with most
items available for purchase at the time of your visit.
You
are invited to visit our new computer room where we have a talking
document scanner, search the internet - which will speak to
you, send an email or transcribe print in to Braille.
We
have a friendly team of both blind and sighted staff who will
always make you welcome at the Centre.
