1st Frankby Greasby’s Great Escaping Penguins. . 2009

1st Frankby Greasby’s Scout Troop entered 2 Patrols into this Year’s County Scout Competition at Tawd Vale and amid stiff competition one of the Patrol’s came away with the coverted “Escape” Trophy and bringing it back to Wirral for the 1st time.
Over 70 teams from across Merseyside took part in various challenging bases ranging from basic 1st Aid to using block and tackle.
The Escape started at 7.00am on the Saturday Morning with an Aerobics lesson followed by 2 days of challenges.
On Saturday night we joined in a good old Campfire sing song and then a wonderful firework display.
Sunday was themed costume day as well as the competition. One of our Patrol’s dressed as “The Simpsons” with the other Patrol dressing as Cavaliers and Roundheads.

As an added bonus, we registered everyone for “The Penguin Club” (which, if you are not aware is a special club at Tawd Vale and you can only join if you camp in sub zero temperatures) and were delighted when we found out that temperatures on the Saturday night reached minus 3. All Scouts and Leaders who where there are now proud owners of the exclusive Penguin Club woggle.
A great weekend was had by everyone there and I would recommend any Scout Troop entering next year’s competition and joining in the fun of “The Great Escape”.
