1st Barnston Cubs win the
Skills Competition 2009
The Skills Competition is one of the leading competitions in the District Cub Scout calendar. This year 10 teams (of 6 cubs per team) from 8 packs across the district were challenged on 10 bases ranging from tent pitching and fire-lighting to fitness and global challenges.
This is the ultimate test in the district of cub scouting skills with each base testing the highest skill levels of cub scouts based on the Cub Scout Challenge Awards.
Cubs had to demonstrate their fitness skills.
They also had to pitch & strike tents.
Cubs were tested on their firelighting & cooking skills.
Some tasks tested their ingenuity
Map-reading skills were tested
Cubs were also asked to demonstrate their First Aid Skills.
Some were just fun!
The event is also a qualifier for the new Merseyside County Cub Scout Skills Challenge taking place in June. The winners, 1st Barnston Cubs, and second placed 4th Moreton Cubs will be representing the District.
