Motorola StarTAC

This is an unusual item to find on a site dedicated to wrist watches but I have a fondness for the Motorola StarTAC range of phones. This model is a European GSM900 band StarTAC 85 in mint condition having only 17 minutes on the lifetime timer. It was originally used on the Dutch KP Telecom  and is a service return that was not reissued.

The StarTAC was the first of the flip phones, large and simplistic by today’s standards but a true classic in my opinion.

I also have a StarTAC 70, a less well specified model that I use on a daily basis. One major advantage of the StarTAC sold in Europe is the low emission of RF radiation, quite a feat for an old phone.
