The Horizontal Duplex Winding Engine and the pithead gear from Morlais Colliery, Llangennech has been re-erected in a reconstructed winding engine house. The engine was built by Andrew Barclay & Sons of Kilmarnock in 1907 and was reputed to have never broken down during its working life. The engine has 20"  diameter cylinders with 42" stroke and is fitted with Corliss valves operated by Stephenson valve gear. The drum is 8 feet in diameter and wound at 60 rpm winding from 105 yards in 22 seconds.

  The driver's position.

Comparison with the illustration (1967) in Watkins shows that the present guarding is original but that the brake controller has been moved sideways, presumably to provide room for the Lilly controller fitted in 1970. This controller is no longer present.
