The Watt Inverted Vertical Compound

This was one of three engines supplied to The West Dock Sewage Pumping Station, Hull in 1883 by James Watt & Co of Birmingham. Each cylinder drove a bucket pump from the crosshead.The engines worked until 1957 when they were replaced by electric pumps.
