Holy Week @ St. Clements

Before Easter Day the parish celebrates Holy Week with three special Communion services which traditionally are called the Tridium. Everyone is more than welcome to come and to participate in all or part of these liturgies.

Maundy
Thursday 6pm

"

The Eucharist of the Last Supper begins with a Seder (Passover) Meal. After the service there is a chance to stay in the church and keep vigil.

Good Friday 3pm

Stations of the Cross are followed by a simple reception of Holy Communion from the reserved sacrament. Prayers are said for world peace. There is also an opportunity to venerate the Cross by leaving a candle by our large wooden cross.

Holy Saturday
Easter
Vigil
8pm

We begin with a bonfire outside the church to symbolise the resurrection and then hold a candlelit vigil in the church. Here we read the stories of salvation from the Old Testament. After renewing our baptismal promises we celebrate Easter with a simple Eucharist.
