China 2009

This mini-site shows some pictures from my short trip to China in mid-2009. The purpose of the visit was to see the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st Century on 22nd July, but cloud and rain conspired to spoil the view I'm afraid!
If you haven't come from my eclipse pages, you can read all about it by clicking here

We started the tour in Shanghai, visiting the Jade Buddha temple; the Yu Yuan gardens, and the Museum. After the eclipse, we moved on to Suzhou, visiting the gardens of the Humble Administrator and the Master of Nets before taking a short trip down the Grand Canal of this "Venice of the East".
