Hello!

If you have just joined the club or completed a sailing course and want to get more from your sailing, we operate a water activity scheme every other Saturday. Although primarily aimed at youth and juniors, anyone can, and does come along.

Our sole aim is for you to enjoy sailing, whether that is cruising safely, some gentle racing or something a bit more competitive. Hopefully this year, there will be three groups.

GETTING GOING group

This will get you on the water and sailing and is really aimed at junior members who haven’t sailed before.  The sessions are fun and you will be able to learn the fundamentals of sailing.

HOTSHOTS group

These sessions will build on the basic skills learnt from the ‘Get Going’ group or your RYA level 2 and enable you to learn the basic skills required to race.

If you want to move on and learn to race, these sessions will teach you the basic rules and involve fun exercises and practice races.

Above are some faces to keep an eye out for. They are all volenteers and as such you'll find they 'dip in and out'. Consequently parents are asked to offer their support, even if it's just to help launch boats. So... prepare to get your feet wet!

Both the GETTING GOING group and the HOTSHOTS group run every other Saturday as indicated in the year book, on the planner on the 'calendar' web page and on notices in various places around the clubhouse.

On some Saturdays there will be a visiting RYA Coach who will greatly enhance the skills you learn. Details of dates will be notified as soon as we get to know.

The sessions start at 12:30 and are led by RYA qualified instructors throughout and are free to club members.

There are a range of boats that are free to use on these Saturday sessions, inluding RS Fevas, RS Teras, Toppers and Oppis.

Be aware we don’t measure our success from the number of junior members going on
to sail at regional or national level (although we have enjoyed considerable success), but on the smiling faces at the end of each day!
