Design Concept / Proposal |

Attenborough nature reserve currently consists of a series of human routes set within a well established ecosystem. Few people who visit the reserve in its current state are aware of the vast amount and rich complexity of life that lives and uses the site on a ceaseless 24-hour basis. Rather than implement a traditional visitor centre with photographs and exhibits set behind glass the scheme instead consists of a series of interventions at different scales carefully positioned to give visitors a deeper perception and appreciation of the site. Some of the proposed installations utilise modern technology to penetrate, enlarge and amplify. Enabling users to see normally unseen landscapes, making the familier unfamiler and enabling visitors to experience different perceptions of the site, creating feelings, sensations and memories without disturbing the sensitive ecosystem. The interventions intend to encouraging visitors to investigate, discover and be surprised. |
