The club has about 20 members, mainly adult, mainly with some experience of fencing. We have an arrangement with Stirling University Fencing Club by which its members can take advantage of a group membership.
Beginners are always welcome. The club can loan equipment to beginners, to get them started. Tuition can be arranged with the club coach.
A limited number of Children of secondary school age may be accepted as club members, at the discretion of club officials. Parents should bear in mind that the club cannot guarantee to provide continuous supervision of children, who should be sufficiently mature and self-reliant to look after themselves in a mainly adult environment. We prefer that younger members are accompanied by a parent; many parents have taken up fencing themselves after seeing how much their children enjoyed it. Children under 16 require the signature of a parent or guardian to become club members.
Disabled fencers. "Wheelchair" fencing, (i.e. fencing while sitting down) is a recognised variant of the sport. Disabled fencers are welcome. The Scout Hall is accessible to wheel chairs.
Fees. The club currently (2008-09) charges an annual membership of £30 for the season September to June. There is an additional nightly fee of £2.00. These fees are halved for Students and Children. Members joining after the New Year will pay a reduced annual membership.
All club members are required to be members of Scottish Fencing, the National sporting body. This membership will be essential to allow participation in competions, and provides insurance cover.
