Extreme left and right; taken from the top of the 'fire tower' at the landmark activity centre Carrbridge the weather looks really menacing. However it turned out to be great day and the children ended up entertained for over 7 hours! Middle four; On a mixed day when the cloud and showers were always around, we debated whether to climb up Cairngorm (25th August). I'm glad we did although the wind at the summit was very strong and there was a a hint of a shower to encourage us not to stay too long!
Above; From demanding baby gulls and proud mother feeding them, to red squirrels - there was always plenty of wildlife around but not always the opportunity to capture on film!
Below left; The 'Jacobite' crosses Glenfinnan viaduct. Sadly I panicked and took the shot too early. Castle Urquart on Loch Ness - no large marine creatures were espied but the wind on the Loch creates patterns in the water which to all intents and purposes looks like a disturbance form underneath. Middle right three; Mallaig (fishing boat under repair) and Loch Shiel at Glenfinnan were seen on 24th August. Right; Culloden viaduct with Inverness express!
Above; Loch an Eilein, just south of Aviemore is a lovely walk - very peaceful. Centre left; Cairngorm is in the background Right; the castle is on an island and cannot be visited (unless you take your own boat) - not sure where you'd land though?
Below; children at work on the assault course - good job there is a safety harness in case you fall off!! Centre; Balvenie Castle at Dufftown - better known for the Glenfiddich ditillery (see below). Centre right; Fort George, just east of Inverness - the day started with rain but as ever we always saw sun at some stage! Right; looking up Glencoe
Above left; Carrbridge - remains of after several heavy rains! Centre; Foyer falls on the south side of Loch Ness Right; ah .. time for a wee dram (Glenfiddich)
Below; Ben Nevis taken from the Mallaig train on our return journey
