Married 1 Oct. 1795 Georges Hanover Sq London Elizabeth Catherine MILLER, dau. of Charles MILLER, of Shropwich, Oving, Sussex, and had issue, nine children.

Elizabeth Catherine died 1812

1812 settled at Datchet, near Windsor, for his children's sake, and restricted his practice to attendance at Windsor Castle.

Returned to London, 1826, with a view to assisting his son, Henry, then at St George's Hospital, but when, soon after, Henry and two other children died, he retired from practice and devoted the rest of his life to study and authorship. Was in constant attendance throughout George III's last illness. Author, medical and religious.

William Died 19 Feb 1845, in London. Buried in the family vault at Windsor. A portrait of him, engraved on stone by J. S. Templeton, was exhibited in the Royal Academy, 1843.

Father of Charles (1815), George (1817), Henry (1819), Frederick (1828) and of the next. (Medical Directories; St John's Coll. Adm., IV. 297; Carthusian Worthies; Burke, Family Records; Munk, II. 458; G. Mag., 1845, 555; Al. Oxon., where he is confused with a namesake.)

In St. John's Church, the old Parish Church of  Windsor , Mid-south wall. Various tablets including one to William HEBERDEN (1767-1845), Physician to George III.
