Bread & Jam
(13+ years)

The Bread and Jam group is a fellowship formed in 2002 by young people who were confirmed together in the Holy Spirit.
The name comes from the idea that through the Holy Spirit we receive our daily bread, our faith sustenance and that this group developed out of preparing together to participate at the Eucharist. The Jam bit comes from our early years when some of us belonged to the Jesus And Me club at school. We meet regularly on Sunday evenings to enjoy discussion and activities and to continue to support each other as Christian young people. So far our time together has included:
Devising and holding a pet service
       A three minute debating evening
Leading a service about Inclusion and Respect
       Sharing a Passover meal
       Home made beauty treatments
       An energetic cycle ride
       A keep fit session
And lots, lots more ( eating chocolate is a fave!)

A new group, 'Lightly Salted', has recently grown from the confirmation group of 2004, so now we are two groups and growing!!

If you are aged 13+ and think you would like to consider making your commitment as a Christian, or would like to know more about it, ring the Parish Office with your details and someone will get in touch with you

Welcome
This page is for the junior church but a message from the Rector to the parents and guardians might help in giving the 'bigger picture'.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
One of the most important things we do in life is looking after and bringing up children. We believe children are a gift from God and, although they do not always seem like Gods's gifts, I am sure you share with me in thanking God for them.
The Church recognises children and young people as members in their own right of the church of today as well as, those who will build the Church of tomorrow. That is why we are so pleased to welcome them and to take our share in supporting you and in helping bring them up in the Christian faith.
Each week as we gather for worship, there are separate activities specially tailored for the younger children, details of which are above, but also each week they join the rest of the congregation as we go up to the altar and they receive a blessing at the altar rail.
I hope you will find this page of our activies for children and young people helpful - and please remember we do not just care about children. You are very welcome too.
Yours in Christ

Rector of  St Nicolas Church, Great Bookham
