A Single footprint 1.5 metres wide
CopyrightApril 2009 - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique

A 150 metre long trail of some 20 sauropod dinosaur footprints has been unearthed at Plagne in the Jura region of Eastern France.

The find, dating from 150 million years ago, was made by scientists from the Claude Bernard Univerty in Lyon, following a tip-off by a couple of hikers.

The discovery has been described by the project leader as "exceptional" because of the size of the footprints - each measuring 1.4 - 1.5 metres in diameter. It is thought that the trackway may extend much further and excavations are continuing.
