Stone Museum of Geology3 miles east of Herne Bay on the A299, this is the site of Bishopstone Glen and Cliffs where exposures of soft sands and clays from Paleocene/Eocene horizons may be found. This site MUST be visited at low tide as there is a danger of being cut off by the sea. Additionally, the cliffs are composed of loosely compacted sand and falls are common. Large numbers of small sharks teeth may be found on the foreshore at low tide and the sands contain many fossil shells, mostly the bivalve Artica morrisi. These fossils are extremely friable and must be handled with much care. An Interpretation Centre nearby houses an exhibition on the geology of the area and is open 11am 3pm on Sundays (October - March), 11am - 5pm Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays (April - August) and 11am - 5pm Wednesday to Sunday (September).
Parking is available next to the sea defences at the eastern end of the park, next to the ruins of St Mary's Church. Access to the beach and cliffs is restricted only by the tide.
