Introduction

It is no longer possible to buy a new copy of the Stoney and Meat Loaf album (the original or re-release) in any format in record stores. In fact the album has never been released on CD. You may however be able to pick up a second-hand vinyl LP copy - these regularly appear on the Ebay Auction Site. Though please don't swell the coffers of bootleggers and pay a lot of money on Ebay for a CDR - I know someone who can provide those at cost!!

As the album is no longer available some audio files are provided here. These will be removed immediately should the album ever be re-issued again - though I will not be holding my breath. It seems that the tracks have in effect, though perhaps not literally, been "lost" for ever.

All of these audio files are in MP3 format. If you don't have a mp3 player then you can download a free copy from WinAmp

Note that some of these files are held on a different server so there is a remote possibility that some files may be inaccessible if that server is down

Original Rare Earth Album

Download "(I'd Love To Be) As Heavy As Jesus" This gospel track from the original Rare Earth album did not appear on the subsequent re-issues of the album though it did appear on a Motown gospel compilation album. Meat would subsequently decide to perform this song when auditioning for Jim Steinman's play More Than You Deserve - a performance that was impressive enough to get him a part in the play and begin their long association

Download "Game of Love" This is Stoney's solo track on the original Rare Earth album which did not appear on any subsequent re-issues

Download the original edit of "Jimmy Bell" On the re-issue album this edit was replaced with a longer one though there were no extra Meat Loaf vocals, just longer instrumental sections

Other

Download a clip (1:05) of "Stone Heart" which appeared on the re-release album and has just Meat Loaf on lead vocals

Download a clip (1:11) of "Everything Under The Sun" which appeared on the re-release album and has just Meat Loaf on lead vocals

Download "Sunshine (Where's Heaven)" This track appeared on both the original album and the re-release. It was partly inspired as a result of one of the producer's on the album, Ralph Terrana, observing his daughter playing in her sandbox at their home. Ralph was rather uneasy about this song as it is about a girl that has died and it was his daughter in the sandbox but thankfully he wasn't that superstitious and this song saw the light of day
