This architectural mystery is also the same church where minister's daughter, Jessie Seymour Irvine wrote the music to "The Lord's My Shepherd", the tune and the village share the name. |

And an illumination from The Book of Deer, the 9th Century Gospel MS containing the first written example of Scottish Gaelic (11th Century) anywhere. Sadly plundered by the Marischal Keiths and ending up at Cambridge University, and subject of a digitisation project. The last major study of the MS was in 1972 by Professor Jackson in his work "The Gaelic Notes in the Book of Deer". |
