Welcome to Stour Valley Alpacas. We are situated in the beautiful Stour valley on the Suffolk/Essex border.
We originally started keeping rare breed sheep (see our sheep pages) for both their meat and their fibre. Gills interest in spinning and weaving eventually lead to researching other sources of fibre and one day she came across a magazine article on alpacas. Both of us immediately fell in love with these animals and undertook many months of research and visited several breeders before we took the plunge and purchased three females. We have been breeding these wonderful creatures since 2002 and now have a small herd of some nine animals.
We occasionally have alpacas for sale including males and females of different colours, and specialize for those of you who are on a limited budget. Please be aware though that alpacas have strong herd instincts and therefore you should always have a minimum of three. We are very pleased to offer advise on all aspects of alpaca care from buying to foot trimming, teeth grinding, shearing etc. For those of you who are hand-spinners we can offer fibre at very competitive prices.
We have Displayed our animals at the 'Tendring Hundred' show since 2004 and currently have three males on loan to the famous Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm. The 'Baylham Three' can be viewed by clicking on the image to the left, opening the 'Features' link and clicking on the latest animal news.
