Richards. A 47 year old Fire-fighter from
Neath, Wales was awarded £100,000
for depression caused by a forced
job transfer. (change)
A female bank worker was awarded £20,000
after suffering panic attacks, following
an armed bank raid. (PTSD)
Lynne Schofield. West Yorkshire P.C. was
awarded £151,000 for stress caused
following live firearms being discharged
in her presence. (PTSD)
Following Walker vs. Northumberland
County Council, yet another social worker
from a different Council was awarded
£140,000 for job related
stress. (Chronic Stress Burnout)
Two Cumbria County Council workers were
awarded £110,000 after suffering
illness through stress due to increased
workloads and extra hours. (Chronic
Stress Burnout)
A Scunthorpe Post Office manager was
awarded £175,000 in an out of court
settlement as increased workload
caused him to develop depression.

A Council housing officer was awarded
£67,400 for stress she suffered
after dealing with rude & demanding
tenants in the course of her work.

Northumberland Detective Inspector Brian
Baker was awarded £7,000 after claiming
exposure to cannabis during a raid
had caused him to snore, causing
arguments with his wife. (Physical
injury leading to Emotional Stress)
All of these
with the exception of the out of court
settlement were deemed to have been
foreseeable and preventable by the
employers ! (A Stress Management Solution
program is recognised as
prevention......)
More Class
Actions .......
On 5th March 2002 262 ex-servicemen, who
saw action in The Falklands, The Golf,
N.I. & Bosnia, are taking the MOD to
the High Court for Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD). Mr. Justice Owen will
have to decide if it was foreseeable and
preventable. The claiments argue that
PTSD was not diagnosed or treated in
service. To back thier claim is the
numerous suicides by Falklands soldiers
since the conflict ended. If successfull
the claims will run into many millions.
There are many more in the pipeline for
Companies as well as the Public Sector.
