Welcome to our website! Hopefully it will offer you an enjoyable insight into who we are and what we do. St Stythians Band was founded in 1928 by members of the surrounding parish. St Stythians isn't actually a village, but a traditional Cornish collective of hamlets and villages. The main village in the area covered by St Stythians is Stithians, where the band is based. As well as performing around 40 concerts a year, the band enters around 4 contests per annum. We currently compete in the 2nd section, although as of 2008 we will return to the 3rd section.
We play brass instruments as a hobby, and try to keep our hobby as interesting and as exciting as possible, tying social events such as trips to the pub in with our hobby, as well playing abroad in places such as Malta and Germany. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, and endeavour to avoid the 'politics' that is rife in the movement. We are always on the lookout for new players to join our friendly team, and never turn a player away; email webmaster@ststythiansband.org or ring Ken at 01872 864525 to get in touch!
