2008 saw a return to the much improved Dover beer fest, preceded by a short pub crawl around Deal.

2007 got off to a good start with a pub crawl round Holborn in January and a fifth return to the London Drinkers beer festival (with subsequent crawl round Covent Garden). July saw a trio of events within 4 weeks: the Kent beer festival (Canterbury), which was done with the work crowd, so no review; the Whitstable beer festival, held in the Whitstable Brewery Bar and preceded by a quick Herne Bay pub crawl; and GBBF '07 (Earl's Court). In September, Dan and Chris made their first attempt at the Monopoly pub crawl - although not completed, it provided a good basis for the second, sucessful attempt in November.

2006 was a slow year for beer outings - with the first six months heralding only the London Drinkers fest (for the fourth time...) and a trip to Budapest at Easter (photos in the gallery). This Budapest report comes courtesy of Dan, who was also in Berlin the week before. The Canterbury beer fest (no report) was in July - at the tail-end of the hot spell. Some good beers, and less busy than last year on account of everyone heading outside to cool down. Managed to get the bus back this year, which saved a two mile walk. Earlier in the year we had a bit of a work reunion up at Yogi's in Sheffield - with much BBQ and beerage - and a superb visit to the Devonshire Cat, which I highly recommend. We made it to 2 GBBF '06 sessions this year - report and photos are both up. Also made a trip to London for a crawl around Covent Garden in September - where a couple of great pubs were found - and finally a return to the superb Medway festival in November (Link to fest site for next year)

2005 turned out to be a bumper year for beer festivals and pub crawls - albeit starting with the disappointing Dover fest, where the beer ran out by 3pm on the Saturday session. This led to an unplanned Dover pub crawl which, following a crawl in Canterbury the previous day, was a relatively quiet affair. A return for the third time to the London Drinkers fest in Kings Cross in March saw the usual high standards maintained, with good beer all round, and followed up by some drinkies in Stevenage (although for the third time, we didn't make it to the Hitchen fest the next day).
A trip to Prague at Easter saw some heavy drinking shenanigans - notes on the all-day Saturday session can be found here. Summer also yielded some good drinking opportunities, with the Lewes beer fest and subsequent Brighton crawl - notes complete with photos; the Canterbury beer festival; and of course, GBBF 2005 - which we got along to three days of this year.
Following Dan's trip to Copenhagen, September and October saw three big sessions - the Letchworth fest; the Canterbury 18-Pub Crawl the weekend after; and the Cherry Tree fest in Steventon, Oxon a few days later. The year was nicely rounded off with a new excursion - the Medway fest - which ended up being one of the best visited.

2004 saw some good sessions - the pinnacle of which was the Camden Town pub crawl in November. October was a busy one for fests, with Letchworth one weekend, and the Cherry Tree 's big one a fortnight later. In August there was the customary trip down to the Great British Beer Fest 2004 , with the usual bingeing on beer and pies. Earlier in the year was the March London Drinkers Beer Fest - A day of ale, a night of alcopops and curry, a morning-after of pain... Two weeks later, the Cherry Tree beer fest in a sleepy village in Oxfordshire; and in the middle of the May heatwave the Ealing Broadway fest.

As far as 2003 beer festivals went, December saw the Stratford Pig's Ear festival, and October the Oxford beer festival, which we felt more than obliged to go to as it was just down the road. Previously, three days off work in August meant three days of drinking at the Great British Beer Festival 2003 and the eating of many a pie. Does life get much better?! And in May we made an unscheduled appearance at the Reading beer fest with some fantastic dark ales.
